I recently read an article called the 100 per cent rule and it had a big impact on me. It made me aware that in order to achieve my objectives in life, I needed to commit 100% to the task at hand, otherwise I was always finding a reason (an excuse) not to do it. Now, when I have a task to complete, I commit 100% and that way there is no ‘wriggle room’. For example, I have committed to practice Mindfulness twice daily and because of this new 100 per cent rule, I get up early every day to make sure that I have time to meditate before going to work. Yes, some mornings I feel like staying in bed when it is dark and raining outside but because I have made the decision, I have committed to doing the meditation and to breaking through the blocks.
Commitment is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity. I really believe that this commitment is a force which supports us and helps us stay focused and faithful to what we have decided we are going to do, regardless of what is going on in our lives. As Abraham Lincoln said “our commitment is what transforms today’s promise into tomorrow’s reality“.
There will always be moments when we will feel like giving up, when we will put others first. But, it is important to make a decision and to stick to it.
So, today I would like you to encourage you to set a clear intention and commit 100% to showing up every day and watch the difference it makes in your daily life!
Let me know how you get on. Feel free to share your experiences and your thoughts about commitment below.
